It’s no surprise that we like to spotlight the yearly Pantone Colors. This year, we were surprised by not one, but two colors from Pantone! Maybe this surprise is them helping make up for such a crappy 2020 in general?! We welcome you both, Illuminating and Ultimate Gray. We didn’t have to wait until this year to see these colors used at weddings, though. While they might not have been main colors or used together, we are showcasing our favorite ways we have used them at weddings in the past and hope you can get some inspiration as well.
Bridesmaids
The most obvious choice for introducing such a bright color, as Illuminating, is through the bridesmaids. Whether in their dresses or flowers (or both!), it can be a beautiful tone for Summer 2021 weddings. You can even go as far as stretching the color to gold, which we’ve seen as a popular color for bridesmaids dresses. The whole idea is to use it as inspiration, and not literally THE color.
Groom’s Attire
We can’t forget about the guys now can we?! When it comes to Pantone Colors, it can get pretty tricky, and you don’t want things being so matchy matchy or prom-like with bright colored vests to match the girls. This is why we are so glad that Ultimate Gray is a color this year! We see so many men wearing the perfect shade of gray suits as part of weddings, and do not see this going anywhere anytime soon. It can match almost any color scheme, any time of the year.
Centerpieces
Again, we are not saying that these Pantone Colors have to be exact, but we like to see couples get inspired by them and show their creativity. Using softer, muted hues of grays or yellows in your decor is a great idea! The use of gold tones for tables accents, or Dusty Miller as the ‘greenery’ in your centerpieces can certainly pull from these colors as well. We consider both of these colors to be more on the neutral side, so incorporating them into any color scheme is easy!
Accessories
We understand that not everyone wants to incorporate a yellow or gray into their main wedding colors, but you can still accessorize with some fun! We love the pop of color on these socks, or how only the bride’s bouquet contained bright Illuminating florals. The bride(s) and/or groom(s) are supposed to stand out, so there are no rules in our eyes for what they can or cannot accessorize with 😉
Yes, these Pantone Colors are a great starting place for wedding color inspiration, but you do not have to use them exactly, or even at all. It’s your wedding, so do what you want with it and don’t forget to be inspired by what you love and make it YOUR day!
