– Can you tell me about how the business started? “After renting chairs for our youngest daughter’s wedding sixteen months earlier, we realized there was a need for quality rental inventory in the area. We decided to start a part-time business by purchasing mahogany chairs for our oldest daughter’s wedding and renting them thereafter. A short time later, a friend came to us saying she couldn’t find decent gold chairs in Orlando, so we purchased gold chairs. Then we purchased black, white and silver chairs, 300 of each color. Today we have over 14,000 chairs in our inventory.”
– What types of products do you have for rent? “A Chair Affair began eight years ago only offering chiavari chairs in black, white, silver, gold, and mahogany. Today, we have more than 1,400 different items in our inventory; from dishware, glassware, barware and flatware, bars, red carpet, marquee LOVE letters, chiavari chairs, ghost chairs, rustic farm tables, folding tables, table numbers, vintage furniture, modern furniture, dance floors and more. – How do you choose new products for your inventory? “We pride ourselves in being trend forward with our inventory. We spend countless hours searching for the next wow items to add!”
– What is your favorite trend in rentals right now? “Vintage furniture! Recognizing an upcoming trend, we’ve recently added over 150 unique pieces to our rentals.”
– How do you manage so many events on the same weekend? “It’s easy for the A Chair Affair team to manage lots of events on the same week. We start off by treating every event as if it was being hosted by family. We have an amazing team who is there to answer your every question, make prompt last minute changes, load our vast fleet of trucks and trailers and deliver your event. We use custom written software to make all the process seamless and done with ease. We care about you and your event and, as a result, we’re known as a leader in the industry.”
– What is one tip that you would give to someone looking to book a rental company? “Our one tip answer has two parts. You should visit the warehouse of your rental company and ask for a tour! Make sure they have enough inventory to assist you with your event and that your event won’t be canceled because the company received a larger order that uses all their inventory. You need to be sure the company you select has proper insurance that is accepted by your venue; the last thing you want is for the company to not be allowed on site the day of the wedding.”
