We recently caught up with our friends over at Bluegrass Chic to tell you more about their business. They also just moved into a newer, bigger meeting space & warehouse, which we took a tour of to see all of their inventory. This great company offers full-service floral design services, custom pieces and some rental inventory.
Michelle is the owner and mastermind behind Bluegrass Chic. She started out apprenticing with another florist for 70 hours a week, learning as much as she could. She eventually started her own company as an Orlando Florist, working from her home taking as many jobs as she could. Now, she has a team of lead floral designers and is making floral dreams come true for so many couples per year!
When it comes to floral, trends come and go. As we always say, you want to love your wedding in 10, 20, 50 years. A trend that Michelle has been noticing is couples are investing more in their ceremonies. That is the most important part of the day and should be dressed up too. This goes hand in hand with the thought of re-purposing as much as you can to the reception, slightly changing the aesthetics for your guests.
As far as their services, they are completely customizable. Bluegrass Chic does not have packages, and love to design everything for each couple. This is important because you want a floral designer who can truly create your vision and bring it to life, not someone who does cookie cutter designs. From sweetheart table garlands to seating chart decor to lavish centerpieces, this Orlando Florist can do it all (and then some ;)).
One thing we agreed on completely was the fact that we feel obligated to educate clients (potential or current). “Even if you end up losing the client, we at least were able to educate them in the process”. We’re firm believers in ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’, and most clients have never planned a wedding before, so education is important.
Lastly, Michelle offers this bit of advice for couples when it comes to floral: “don’t second guess your initial design”. We couldn’t agree with this more! We’ve seen couples change their design a few times, and they ultimately end up going back to something similar to what they initially wanted. Like the saying goes, ‘go with your gut!’
