In the world of design, Pantone means a lot. It is the standard language of colors. Weddings are another realm that use a lot of color. They are designed off of a single swatch or inspiration photo, and often times, from a Pantone color. For 2020, the Pantone Color of the Year was announced as ‘Classic Blue’, and we are all for it! It’s a shade reminiscent of the sky at dusk. We have actually been using this iconic color for a while and thought we would show off ways to incorporate this into weddings.
We know that the obvious options would be to have blue table linens or have blue tones in the floral. So, we wanted to think outside of the box with ideas we or our clients have used in the past. We are always suckers for details, so seeing them in the smallest places often make the biggest impact.
Linens
Yes, we just said that’s an obvious choice, but we aren’t talking about the entire table linen being in the Pantone Color of the Year’s Classic Blue. We love this velvet napkin, with the perfect pop of color. You don’t want your room to become too dark or moody if that isn’t the vibe you’re going for.
Shoes
Now, you all have to have your wedding day shoes. Why not make them fun & colorful?! For brides or grooms, you can have your ‘Something Blue’ be on your feet. Again, it’s a way to tie in the color without it being too crazy. These gorgeous Christian Louboutin pumps were perfect for the big day! This bride tied them into her blue & Hunter Green wedding theme.
Cake
Who says a wedding cake has to be white?! Not us! The cake is the perfect opportunity to bring out any element of the design from the wedding. This marble blue cake is a work of art from Everything Cake. It has depth because each tier is a different size and design, without being chaotic. This was definitely a focal point in the room and the perfect pop of color!
Whichever way you decide to use this Pantone Color of the Year, be bold, different and fun with it! We are happy to offer any advice on how to tie a color into your design inspiration, whether it’s Classic Blue or not.
