As fellow dog lovers, we get it-you want to include your dog at your wedding. You’d have them be a guest at a table if you could (no? just us?). Our fur babies are important to us, and we want them included in the most important days of our lives, including when their parents get married!! We have seen some clever ideas on how to make sure your pup is there (physically or in spirit) on the big day.
If you’re planning to get ready at a hotel, you can check if the property is pet-friendly. Some hotels technically aren’t, but for a small fee, will allow you to have your dog with you. This will allow your dog bestie to be included in the festivities with your human besties. This makes it easier if a family member is watching them, too, so they don’t miss out on anything to go home and take care of pup. Don’t forget to include the playful pup in any getting ready photos too-you’ll cherish these for a long time to come!
The most obvious way to include your dog at your wedding is in the photos! There are companies that will take care of your pup(s), bring them to the wedding and then bring them back home too, so you can relax and enjoy. If it’s at all feasible, having your babies in these photos can be super important to couples! We see a lot of couples bring their pets in just after their first look (but be careful if your dog is a jumper and your attire! ;)) Another option is to include them in your ceremony as their ring/flower dog.
Once photos are over, and pup is comfortable back at home or their hotel, your guests can notice small details throughout the wedding that include your pup continuing the celebration. You can even include them in paper goods before the wedding day, such as on your invitation’s details card or envelope liner! At the wedding, you can incorporate a custom water color portrait onto your cornhole boards, bar signage, table numbers, koozies, menus, cocktail napkins, etc (the possibilities are endless). We love seeing couples include these personalized details, and guests enjoy them as well!
Quite possibly the best idea we have seen yet on how to include your dog at your wedding is to have a dog treat bar! Just like you’d set up a candy or favor bar for your guests, your dog can have one as well for your guests to take home to their fur babies, too! Those pups will appreciate the goodies after their parents left them for the night to celebrate your big day.
We hope you take these ideas and include your pup in your big day in your own special way!
