We thought we’d talk about something yummy this week! And, who doesn’t love cake?! There are so many different options for Wedding Cake Design, so we thought we would give insight on some of our favorites (including their displays!).
First things first, let’s talk shapes and tiers. We’re seeing a lot of couples opt for mostly round cakes still, but they might not have as many tiers. It’s common for couples to get a smaller cake for the cutting ceremony then have other dessert options for their guests to enjoy throughout the reception. If you’re not willing to go bold with the shape, consider maybe one tier being a different shape to add dimension to your wedding cake design.
We are seeing a lot of ‘simple’ cakes these days as well. This could be a flat or lined buttercream cake design but is decorated with fresh flowers. Or, some couples are still opting for the naked or semi-naked cake design if they are not a fan of a lot of icing. We personally love seeing some of your wedding theme brought into the cake design. And, please don’t be afraid of color! It’s so refreshing to see a couple do something fun with their cake. Cake artists can get so creative if they are given your wedding colors and run with it. There are so many color options, marbling effects and metallic elements that be brought into your wedding cake design!
Last, but not least, don’t forget the cake display. The wedding cake is often a focal point of your reception, so make sure it’s displayed in a beautiful way! We see a lot of clients using furniture, specialty tables or fancy linens to dress up their cake display. Whichever you choose, remember to keep it to yours and your wedding’s personalities. Cheers to delicious cakes!
