Vendor Spotlight: Art & History Museum Maitland
We recently caught up with Kelly, rental manager at Art & History Museum’s Maitland Art Center. We always love visiting this property because it is so unique! There truly isn’t anything like it in Central Florida, as it’s the one of the few that remains to have Mayan Architecture in the Southeast. We love the historic feel, that embraces romance all around. If you have checked it out yet, you definitely should get over there for a visit!
We think that knowing the history of your venue can be a huge plus! This venue has a Mayan influence in it’s art & architecture, and Kelly says “the museum itself was founded in 1937 as a campus for artists to work out of. This is the only National Historic Landmark located in Greater Orlando and one of 12 in the entire state of Florida that can host events”. Something even cooler?! “The Mayan chapel has been hosting wedding since the 1940s!”, she continues.
As with any vendor/venue we recommend, you should expect unparalleled customer service from Art & History Museum Maitland! “Each event and couple is unique and important to us and regardless of the occasion and our staff is devoted to making sure the event runs smoothly”. With Kelly as your main contact, her 10+ years of wedding industry experience definitely shows! Responsive, friendly and informative representatives are imperative.
Ok, we know you’re dying to know all of the cool spaces that you can use for your wedding, and trust us,
there’s plenty to choose from! We personally love the Mayan Chapel & Courtyard, simply because of the architecture and statues it contains. Depending on how you arrange your guests in each space, you can fit 50-100. It’s not uncommon to have an intimate ceremony in the chapel with close family & friends and a reception with even more guests in the courtyard, as an example.
Another hidden gem at the Art & History Museum Maitland is it’s Main Garden area. You can fit up to 150 guests for a ceremony or reception. We’ve seen a lot of romantic garden celebrations here, and with it’s blank canvas, the possibilities are endless!
If outdoor receptions aren’t your thing, fear not. The Germaine Marvel Building a great option for an indoor reception on this property for up to 150 guests. The theme carries into some of the wall art in this space, but still allows you to make it your own.
We often have a lot of clients that book here ask how they can tie in the unique atmosphere with their decor. There’s a timeless romantic garden feel that will always be a classic for this space, but Kelly adds “trend I’m seeing a lot of right now is vintage vibes. I’m seeing a lot of blush, dusty rose, and ivory color combinations and I think the earthy, vintage inspiration works well with the museum. I’m also seeing a lot of protea in wedding bouquets”, which we feel adds a special touch to any garden bouquet.
As you can see, Art & History Museum Maitland offers different options for your guests, which is why it’s one of our favorites. Every wedding can truly be different here with the rentals options they have. Feel free to reach out to us or Kelly at the museum with any questions!
