Is a traditional bouquet right for you? Or do you want to make a statement?
There is no denying that a bride’s bouquet is one of the most crucial “accessories” to her wedding day attire! It is a tradition that has been around since the 1600’s and while the reason for carrying one has changed over the years, we can always count on seeing a beautiful bouquet carried down the aisle. But does that bouquet always have to be big, round, and full of white and pink roses? Absolutely not! More and more, we are seeing a shift in tradition and finding that brides are getting bolder in their choices of flowers and moving to a more atypical wedding bouquet design. Some aren’t even using flowers at all!
For Diane & Glen’s tropical romance wedding in August, she chose to carry a pageant-style bouquet. She cradled the long stems of brightly colored flowers in her arm so gracefully and we couldn’t get enough of the contrast against her white wedding gown. Turquoise orchid buds, yellow hibiscus, and bird of paradise were among our favorite pieces of this bouquet. Photo by Sydney Marie Photography
At Angie & Josh’s wedding in September, her atypical wedding bouquet could not have been more perfect. Comprised of mostly greenery with blush roses and white hydrangea tucked into seeded eucalyptus and Italian ruscus, this bouquet was perfect for their outdoor ceremony. Providing a rustic element to her attire, Angie looked like a dream carrying her bouquet to meet her groom. As always, Lee Forrest Design expertly executed this look and took our breath away! We have definitely seen a shift in the trend and for a styled shoot that we did in May, we wanted to utilize clean lines and bright “Florida Chic” elements. This design was meant to be anything but traditional and that was accomplished in this atypical wedding bouquet! Using kale and banana leaves, this bouquet didn’t have a single bloom but was every bit gorgeous. The team at Weddings by Carly Ane’s really blew us away with such a unique design. As you can see by these examples, it is totally okay to be bold in your choices and do something a little crazy! Whether you choose a unique wedding venue, non-traditional food, or even an atypical wedding bouquet, it is your wedding day! You get one shot to make it your own and make it amazing! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
