Their owner, Michelle, is such a talented Orlando Baker and fell into owning her own successful business. She started out as a pastry chef for a catering company when friends started asking her to do their wedding cakes. Her work was published on national blogs and she was getting recognition and inquiries. As you may know, bakers (not caterers) are allowed to operate from their home, under the Bakers Cottage Law. Hence, the name and Bakers Cottages Cakes was born!

We love how you can basically create your own cake and flavors by mixing and matching the fillings with the cake flavors. There is no such thing a pre-fix, ‘cookie cutter’ cake here! As far as design, they can sketch up what your cake will look like so there’s no question on your vision. Most of the time, the sketch comes out better than the initial idea-and then it’s brought to life on a whole new level.

In typical fashion, we asked Michelle what her favorite cake trend is at the moment. This one is one of our favorites too, and wouldn’t even really fall into the ‘trend’ category, as this would never go out of style. “My favorite trend at the moment would be creating personal cakes, such as designing it based off of their wedding invitations or the bride’s wedding gown”, she says.
Lastly, the advice that this amazing Orlando Baker offers is to work with someone who understands your vision. We also agree with this because even if just one piece of the design puzzle is ‘off’, it can make or break the entire look! “Choosing your baker and attending tastings for your cake is the fun part”, she adds. I mean, who doesn’t like sweets?!
