It is a big deal to have your besties stand by your side on your wedding day, but getting to that point takes a lot of work. There’s how to ask them, planning their attire and wedding day tasks that you should be aware of. If you’re newly engaged, now is a great time to think about who you want to stand by your side on your wedding day. The biggest piece of advice we can give you about this is you don’t need everyone you’re close with to be in your wedding party. It’s more meaningful to have a small group of those closest to you than a large group of acquaintances.
Attire
Once you have your color scheme picked out, it’s time to decide what your Wedding Party will wear. Remember, they are there to accent you and your (almost) spouse, not to take the spotlight. For guys, you have to consider suit or tux and what colors. Then you have to figure out what accessories you want them to have (shoes, tie style, vest, etc). For girls, you might want to consider a uniform look of all the same dress, or different styles in the same color, or go with an eclectic look of different colors and styles! They also need cohesive accessories and shoes as well.
Festivities
It’s no secret that there are bridal showers and bachelor/ette parties to plan leading up to the wedding. This is something that your Wedding Party should be handling for you, so it is a surprise! One thing we also like to see them take care of is the Wedding Getting Ready part of the day too. This includes photo ops, food, drinks, music and more. It’s their job to make sure you all stay calm and stress-free while getting ready!
Day-of Duties
There is more than just standing next to you at the ceremony to consider as part of the Wedding Party. We’ve chatted about it before, but they are basically your support system and often our go-to for things on the big day. Making sure you’re always photo ready is our biggest piece of advice for those closest to you. They can also help with gathering family members for photos (since we may not know all of them) or taking your items from the venue at the end of the night (that we’ve gathered from them).
Before you consider your Wedding Party and pop the proposal question, think if they are up for the tasks and duties that come with the {fun} job title!
