You know we always have your back when it comes to recommending great vendors. When we say that Flowers by Lesley is one of the best, we mean it. Whether your vision is simple or extravagant, this team can do it all!
Lesley is from England (and has the cutest accent!). She got her start as an apprentice in a flower shop in London, then started studying floral design, botany and horticulture. She continued to work with flowers in the Greater London area until the early 80’s and then moved to the states. The northeast was too cold for her, so she eventually made her way down to Orlando, where she has settled ever since.
We have attended countless meetings with clients at the Flowers by Lesley office. She is centrally located just south of Downtown, and as a head’s up, loves cats. There might even be a few in and around the office! Once you hire her team, they happily aim to exceed their client’s expectations, from prompt communication to presenting the final product.
A saying that we truly believe in is “you don’t know what you don’t know”. It’s our job to educate our couples on all things weddings. Some florists offer certain packages based on templates for weddings, and others require a minimum order. Flowers by Lesley does not do either. Lesley herself says “we believe each couple is unique and has unique needs”. This is why they will customize everything according to what clients need and want only. “From small, intimate weddings to grand affairs, I will listen to your specific needs and always pay attention to the details”.
While she doesn’t have a ‘favorite’ flower, she admits that she’s a sucker for anything with texture. She noted that grasses, dried flowers and ferns are really popular and trendy right now. “It’s unfair to only choose one flower! There are too many I like, so it is usually the one I’m holding or working with at the moment!” We are seeing a lot of couples choosing to incorporate these into their designs, along with natural elements or geometric accessories.
Depending on when you hire your florist, your taste or vision might change slightly over time. This is why Lesley says communication is key when you hiring your florist. Don’t be afraid to communicate your vision to make sure your florist can carry out your vision. She also says to “be open-minded about flower choices and take into consideration how flowers will photograph”.
