What are our seating options?!
As Orlando Wedding Planners, it’s our job to educate our clients. We often get asked by our couples where and how they should sit and enjoy their reception. There are two main seating options for this answer: Sweetheart Table or Head Table. We’re diving into some of the pros & cons of each to hopefully help you make your decision.
We should start out by saying there is no traditional or must-have choice. Most often, it comes down to ease of the ever-so-daunting seating chart. We’ll start with the easier pick of the two seating options, and our favorite, the Sweetheart Table. It’s by definition, a table for just the two ‘sweethearts’. We like this option because you get to enjoy your first married meal together. This is probably the only time throughout the evening that you’ll get to be alone to take it all in. Some couples do not like this option because they don’t want to seem like they are the focus while eating (and yes, we make sure our couples eat on wedding days!).
Let’s chat about the more complicated option, the Head Table. It can be complicated because you have to consider who will sit here with you, which is a bit more work for you. Will your bridal party accompany you at a large King’s table? If they sit with you, are you willing to accommodate space for their dates/significant others as well? Or will you have those people sit without their dates at a different table? If you are choosing family to sit at the head table, where do you draw the line as far as who is ‘privileged’ enough to be seated with the coveted newlyweds? See what we mean by saying it can get complicated?! However, this option is perfect for the couple who doesn’t want a lot of attention on them and wants to be surrounded by their closest family & friends as they enjoy their first married meal.
Whichever of these seating options you decide, make it perfect for the two of you. It’s your wedding, so make sure that is reflected by including what the two of you want. Either way, you will certainly get to enjoy your reception with all your loved ones around you, dancing the night away!
