A recent trend we’re seeing (and don’t see going away anytime soon) is the Private Last Dance. We love incorporating special moments for our couples into their wedding days, and this is one that tops the list. Spending alone time together on your wedding day is very rare, believe it or not, and having a minute to take it all in at the very end of your evening is truly special.
First, you have to ask yourself if you want a private last dance. Some couples prefer not to have one because they want to keep the party going somewhere else after their last song plays or want to walk out with their guests. There is nothing wrong with not having one at all! We often see couples that choose to have some type of send off incorporate a Private Last Dance.
Next, if you do want to have one, it is always after the last song plays, and guests have left the reception space. If you are planning a grand exit, it takes time for your guests to line up and your photographers to get their gear ready for your photos! So, this is a great time for you and your new spouse to be sharing a quiet last moment on your wedding day together. Typically, there is no one in the room but the two of you to truly soak it all in. It’s not uncommon for us to see our couples shed a tear or two during this moment because they realized that the best day ever is over and they are overcome with so many emotions!
You’ll want to make sure you choose a song that is special to the two of you. Are you Disney fans that want to have an acoustic version of your favorite movie tune? Does Ed Sheeran’s music really evoke emotions in you? Is there a song that you always dance together in your kitchen when you hear it? A Private Last Dance is just that-private- so it’s something that gives you the goosebumps and is something you’ll remember forever. Photographers love capturing these raw moments, too, if you are ok with having them do so!
After your special moment, you go on about your grand exit or after party, but will always remember those last few moments of your wedding day, a day that you won’t be able to ‘do over’, so relax and enjoy whatever the moment brings!
