Vendor Spotlight: Rhodes Studios
Since 2005, Edmund & Joann Rhodes have been capturing memories and moments for so many lovely couples! As a husband and wife team, they know how to use each other’s strengths to achieve the best possible product and work together to put the couples’ minds at ease on what could be both the most stressful and the most wonderful day of your lives together. This week, we had the opportunity to get to know this lovely couple a little better and learn more about Rhodes Studios photography + video.
– How did Rhodes Studios get started?
“Rhodes Studios started back in 2005 with just a dream! Photography was an art I loved to do with my father and I had continued it as a hobby while working a corporate job for 27years. My wife encouraged me to follow my heart and create something that I always wanted to do. I finally made the leap and our journey began!”
– What should couples expect when hiring you?
“We first have a connection during our consultation which is key. On the big day our team loves to have fun and keep everyone as calm as possible. We keep the couple “time checked” so they don’t have to worry what to do next. I love being able to go with the flow of the couples ideas of pictures as well as giving them guidance. The most important thing to us is that our couples know that they can turn around at any point and know we are there for them.”
– How customizable can a client be with the final product?
“Every couples’ needs are different so I always customize their product. They select songs for their video’s, photos for their albums and they always switch up the “standard” prints they receive in the customized package that better suite their needs. Because we have everything electronic for our couples, they can communicate with us on ideas or questions they might have for the photos. They also give us all the information we need to help with family photos. We love giving them options at no additional cost. After the wedding some couples have requested to omit portions of the wedding from their photo and video collection which is no problem. We also enjoy sitting down and working with our clients on their album photo collection so they know exactly what the product will look like when they receive it.”
– What is your favorite part of photographing a wedding?
“Capturing the true emotion of when the couple sees each other for the first time! Sometimes it’s the ceremony as the bride is coming down the aisle or at the reception when people are expressing such tender feelings! They can be laughing and crying at the same time! Capturing families having a great time together from all over the world and seeing the joy that it brings to them when they see the final photos! LOVE IT!”
– What is the best thing about working with your family?
“Because we are a husband and wife team, we know and trust that the other person is handling everything needed. Just a look from my wife and we know what to do. We get to hear every week about love and the strength it takes to get through hard times and the beauty of the day! It actuals makes the both of us feel more for each other and if it’s a rough day it doesn’t come home to us. We keep that in check!”
– What is your favorite photography trend at the moment?
“Couples are gathering their ideas from Pinterest! Pinterest boards give the couples great ideas and we get to marry their ideas with ours. Most of the time we will know the properties and can work the Pinterest ideas to the location. It also gives us the opportunity to set the expectations of getting the most important images first.”
– Do you only shoot weddings?
“We primarily do weddings. Couples usually book far enough in advance so if a corporate company needs photography or video around the holiday’s we can squeeze them in. But we also enjoy doing maternity and family sessions. Couples usually have us do maternity and family as they grow their family. I would say it’s about 90% weddings, 10% other.”
– Do you only take weddings in Central Florida or do you travel?
“We go where the couples request! That’s what makes it fun! We have done weddings from cruises, Colorado, NY, Maryland, Georgia and so many more! We love traveling and seeing new wedding locations. Looking forward to traveling overseas!”
– What is one tip that you could give to a couple looking to hire a photographer for their wedding?
“Something we found out from couples was that other photographers only fully edit a handful of photos of the photographers choosing. We fully edit all photos. Also, know who your day-of-photographer is!”
