Navy & Gold Styled Shoot – Mission Inn Resort & Club – Sorority Wedding
Wedding Inspiration is all around us. As a planner, we get inspired by so many things. In this case, I was inspired by my years as an undergraduate at the University of Central Florida as a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma. It helped that I was working with another sister, the lovely Shannon at Mission Inn Resort. We decided to go all out and to come up with a sorority wedding! We got so into it, that we recruited our “Bride” model from my chapter. With the 3 of us, we knew we would come up with something great, and that’s exactly what we did.
It was a cool December day, where we got to take our time piecing everything together for this sorority wedding in the different event spaces that Mission Inn has to offer. Our ‘ceremony’ took place in the Legends Courtyard, with big beautiful oak trees acting as natural décor. We wanted to keep this space simple, but still incorporate the things that were important to us. Sticking with the navy & gold wedding theme, we had the bridesmaid wear a dark blue dress, and the aisle was flanked with gold decorative towers. They were adorned with greenery and fleur de lis-one of the 3 symbols of Kappa Kappa Gamma. We also hung gold keys from the ends of the chairs, subtly showcasing another symbol.
The ‘reception’ was held in the venue’s Grand Ballroom, and this had many of our favorite décor elements! The walls were lit in beautiful hues of blue, with textured lighting as an accent. The ballroom’s existing chairs were navy, and went perfectly with our gorgeous gold table linens. We got creative with the floor plan, having the cake table in the middle of an ‘X’ of reception tables.
Some things that were near and dear to our hearts were shown throughout this sorority wedding. Our paper goods showcased all of the symbols (owls, keys, fleur de lis). Our social media hashtag included an endearing term used between sisters. We were even able to sneak our founders’ names onto some of the place cards. One of my favorite aspects was having the florist include a key on the groom’s boutonniere. The bride’s bouquet was accented with irises, Kappa’s flower.
Our biggest accomplishment with this (styled shoot) Sorority Wedding thus far was having it published on a national wedding blog, the Frosted Petticoat. It was such a fun project for all of the vendors involved, and it’s so rewarding to see our work published!
