We recently caught up with owner Wendy to learn more about their history and how far they’ve come, being a leading DJ company here in Orlando.
Owner Les started his DJ career unexpectedly as a young teen studying how songs and music were structured. He was out with friends one night and the DJ didn’t show up, so he asked if he could try out what he was learning and that night was the beginning of a lifetime DJ career for Les. Before long, he was mastering his DJ and microphone skills, and within a few years was considered one of the biggest club DJs in Buffalo, NY. He was highly sought after and spun at every major night club in Buffalo and Niagara Falls for many years. He was also live to air on the radio station, Kiss 98.5, Buffalo’s Top Dance Pop Station, every weekend. In 1994 he started the shift to weddings in Buffalo and partnered with a well-known company. Then in 1998, he decided to make the move to launch his own company, Soundwave Entertainment. The name came from a favorite character in the show ‘Transformers’ that was a cassette player that played music and turned into a fighting machine. What began as a side hustle to his corporate job in the automotive industry, which eventually transferred Les & his wife, Wendy, to Orlando, they were determined to make Soundwave Entertainment Systems Orlando’s most sought after DJ entertainment company. Within 1 year, Les quit his corporate job and together Les and Wendy took the leap of faith of being their own bosses and making a career out of Soundwave. Going on 23 years strong in Orlando, with 6 highly skilled Mixing DJs on the team, they celebrate about 300 weddings yearly. They offer DJ & MCs, Lighting Design, Special Effects, Guitarist and Photo Booths.

Lastly, we asked Wendy & Les their advice for couples looking for their Wedding DJ. “Experience and expertise comes with a price tag like anything in this world, so use preferred vendor lists as well as recommendations of your Wedding Planner. Checking online directories and their social media is a good tool as well.”
