Modern day technology is becoming more and more prominent at weddings. Whether it’s with live streaming, uploading, guest books or activities, we see some sort of technology at weddings! But how do you know which one(s) to incorporate into your special day?
Guest Experience
Your guests love to be included in your wedding, and not just being there as guests. We always love to see guests be immersed in different experiences throughout the entire event, whether it be from activities, food or entertainment. If you and your future spouse love to stay in on a Saturday night and play your favorite video game, why not incorporate that into your wedding day by having a console set up for guests to play as well? A fun guest book idea is using a phone that guests can record a message for you to be able to listen back until the end of time! The classic photobooth also goes a long way. The popular options for this are the 360 videobooth or a GIFbooth, and guests can text themselves the video directly from the booth, so they have it to share instantly!
Let’s Get Social
With everything social media nowadays, it’s easy for your wedding to be blasted into the universe by your guests, pretty much instantaneously! You are able to see everything that your guests capture in one place by using a wedding hashtag. We have also seen couples have specific instagram handles for their wedding for guests to tag. Alternatively, we’ve seen couples use services that allow their guests to upload their photos to so the couple can enjoy things from a guests’ perspective! WedUpload is a great option for this. If you love Reels or TikTok, here’s a Pro Tip: ask your videographer if they have a service to provide a short “social” highlight that’s a minute or less that you can share on platforms as a teaser!
Communication
If you’re going through the trouble of having special collection apps or hashtags, you’ll need to let your guests know about them! The best way to do this is communication before, during and after the wedding. Using something like WedTexts helps you get any kind of information out to your entire guest list in one text. You can go old school by having custom signage made with your hashtag on it, or a QR code with the upload link-there’s so many ways to do let your guests know what to do.
As you can see, technology at weddings is here to stay, and is always evolving! We love seeing our clients get creative on how they choose to share their special day with their present guests and even those that couldn’t make it. Keep it simple for your guests and their experience in mind while planning!
