We get it-weddings cost a lot of money. It’s part of our job to guide you through the planning process, and this includes sharing any Wedding Budget Tips we have as well! After catering and photography, floral is probably the next biggest expense you’ll have (depending on your style and guest count). We’re sharing some ways to get the most out of your wedding floral while still carrying out your vision.
Repurposing
This is a very magic word in our industry, and your guests typically never know! Anything – I repeat – anything used at your ceremony can be used at your reception (not cocktail hour though!). Do not forget to bring this up with your florist in your initial consultation. This can mean moving your ceremony arch behind your sweetheart table, or just taking the floral off of it for your table. It can also mean having your centerpieces on display at the ceremony then moving them to reception tables, like Fallon & Shelton recently did!
Bouquets
Another of our Wedding Budget Tips that we love is utilizing the bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces. Trust us, after photos are done, your girls are wanting to get rid of those things! So, why not use them on the tables for guests to enjoy as well? Add some candles around them and voila! They are already in your wedding colors so you know they will work nicely with the linens you’ve selected too. We do typically see a different type of centerpiece brought in when doing this, so it is meant to save on about 1/3 or 1/2 of your centerpiece costs, depending on how many bouquets you have.
Keep It Simple
We always say ‘less is more’. You have to think what matters most to you and your future spouse. We have had some couples not wanting to focus too much on what is on their tables, but know they have to have something in the middle of the table. This is when we typically recommend a simple, yet beautiful and cost effective style of centerpiece. Greenery and candles can go a long way in the right setting, while adding a lot of romance too!
Don’t DIY
We have seen on Pinterest couples saying how easy it is to provide items like these yourself from the dollar store as big Wedding Budget Tips. Our professional opinion: DON’T DIY!!! You have no idea how much more work that is for yourself! Yes, it’s saving some money, but most people don’t think about the time and labor involved with DIY. It’s something you’ll have to lug to the venue, have set up by a family member (planners do not have time for DIY items), and lug home at the end of the night. Not to mention, what are you going to do with 100 pillar candles and vases after the wedding?
As you can see, there are quite a few beautiful ways to save a little when it comes to the wedding floral of your dreams. We hope you can take this and plan accordingly with your vendor team, and we are always here to help!
